The runway project is put on hold due to the economic downturn.
April 7, 2016
Plans to proceed with North Runway are announced.
June/July 2016
Formal public consultation events held in Malahide, Swords and St Margaret’s.
October 2016
Second phase of public consultation with events held in Malahide, St Margaret’s and Swords.
December 16, 2016
Work starts on the first construction package for North Runway. This initial phase of the project will support up to 100 construction jobs. The package comprises of the diversion of the Naul Road, a realignment of the Forrest Little Road, and associated works including site fencing, services diversions and site clearance and demolitions.
March 8, 2017
Fingal County Council grants a five-year extension of time to North Runway’s original planning permission. Planning permission for the project now extends until August 2022.
